What’s that you say? Oh you noticed the welcome sign upcycle by the front door when you came in? Thank you! It was a fun project to utilize old lightbulbs and I got to use my good ol’ trusty Cricut! I just love that thing. It’s so easy to cut vinyl or other thin material for my many projects. For the At Home show on HSN (Tuesdays and Fridays 9am EST), I contribute different DIY projects every so often and I was really excited about this one.
Lightbulbs are a really intriguing item to upcycle. I’ve turned them into terrariums and hot air balloons but this time around I wanted to make them say something. And I also love their little shape. Even the candelabra ones are fun to stare at and think of different purposes.
So many of us have old lightbulbs, either burned out ones or we newly replaced ones with LED lights. If you find yourself in this predicament, save a handful and make yourself a really cute sign! In this case, I made my sign say welcome but of course you could have it say whatever you wish! Maybe even your last name would be cute or your address numbers!
Here is my Lightbulb Welcome Sign Upcycle with the video from HSN! If you make one, please share and show me! I really love seeing personalized tweaks of my projects. Instagram: @ahostofthings #IamAhostofthingsToo
Collect your lightbulbs, any size, shape or mix and match!
Cut out vinyl letters or find letter stickers/numbers
Place small rock or sand in a long narrow container that can withstand the outdoors. Use colorful rock or sand from the aquarium section at stores to have it match your home exterior. Mine happens to be black and grey…boring! 🙂 But I love it and it does have personality!
Lastly, place the letters/numbers on each bulb and place in order bottom side down into the rock. They should stand up pretty securely!
Makes a cute gift for a new neighbor or a new home for friend! If you have all new LED lights and don’t have old ones, the Dollar Tree has two for a $1.
