Merry Christmas! I hope you’ve been having fun decorating your home and making it a magical space! I love the twinkle and romantic feel Christmas lights create- just so homey! And if you want to make it even homier, add a Children’s Christmas Tree Using 3 Items You Already Have!
I recently went on the Celebration Holiday Home Tour near Disney World and really enjoyed it. We got to tour a dozen real homes all decorated beautifully for the holidays. So of course I got inspired! One of the takeaways was a Christmas tree in the children’s room. I mean, it’s not a new thing, I have seen them before, but the sparkle of a white tree really looked so pretty and then I realized I have a little white tree I had yet to put up!
I was two seconds away from donating this little tree because I have had it since college…I actually remember paying a whopping $4.00 for it! So I have been wanting to replace it and haven’t, so up it went! Since Saylor’s room has a lot of white in it, the little white feather tree looks pretty darn cute especially with it’s matching wreath. But I didn’t want to buy any embellishments for it since I don’t know how long I’ll keep it, so I scoured her room and found 3 Ways to Decorate a Children’s Tree with Thing you Already Have!
#1- Wooden Initial Tree Topper
Don’t tell me your child doesn’t have their name or initials made out of wood somewhere in their room! It’s such a popular design element and they look so cute! So just take their first name initial and drill a hole in the bottom. Then slip it onto the tree and use as a topper! I really like the way it turned out!
#2- Stuffed Animal Tree Skirt
For whatever reason, I don’t have a tree skirt for this tree and yes I’ve had it for years! I have seen zillions for the 10 years since I bought the tree but it’s never made it’s way onto my shopping list! 🙂 So I decided to use Saylor’s white and cream stuffed animals instead! I think they look adorable all piled next to one another around the trunk and she sure got a kick out of it too!
#3- Hair Bows as Ornaments
I used to have purple bows for this tree…they’re long gone. And I told Saylor earlier in the day we would decorate her tree, not remembering I don’t really have ornaments for it. So instead, I decided to borrow some of her hair bows to add color and it worked really well! So if you don’t already have a place for bows, put them on your tree for the time being! She had fun trying to put them on and the pink ones sure make the tree look girly!
