Welcome to A Host of Things today! I’m excited to share a Cinderblock Candle DIY I made for HSN’s At Home show. This is a super simple way to upcycle extra blocks you have laying around. Be sure to check out the video as well!
First, assemble the items needed.
-Cinderblock
-Disposable Aluminum Pan
-Caulk and Superglue
-Box Cutter
-Jewels or Embellishments
-Candle Wax
-Lemon Oil
-Wicks with metal plates for stability
-Double Boiler (pan with 1″ water in it, then place a metal bowl in the water which will hold the wax)
Directions
Run a generous amount of caulk around the perimeter of the cinderblock and around each hole. Then place glue side down on your aluminum pan…let dry.
While you’re waiting, go ahead and glue individual wicks in each hole…you can buy these at any craft store.
Once the caulk has dried, use the boxcutter to cut around the perimeter of the block and take it out.
Now it’s time for the fun part…well the whole project is fun, actually! But now you can decorate the outside however you wish…just use some super glue!
And after you’ve melted your wax on the double boiler, carefully pour it in each hole…don’t forget to add the lemon scent drops!
