Making your own artwork look professional is possible! Take it from me who is crafty but definitely not artsy. But with determination, which we all have, you can easily transform an old frame, like the one I found, into your own Coastal Art DIY!

I have a few go-to places in Orlando for finding great bargains. The one I visited for this project is where old hotel furnishings, theme park displays and broken items used in the entertainment industry go. So as you can imagine, it’s hit or miss. But this day was a hit!

These large glass frames with orange coral were flying out the door. They were $10 each and they had a huge batch as some hotel decided they were outdated. So I grabbed two, hoping I could transform them into something new again!
The tricky part was seperating the frame and glass which I used a blade cutter for.

Then I opened them up and they were pretty stinky! I guess the coral was real! And because of that, also very fragile.
I decided to spray paint the coral gold, surprise, surprise! And then I made my own fringe napkin from remnant linen and dyed them blue with an ombre technique. Here’s a shortcut to how they look on my table…

Next came reassembly and with a little glue gun here and there, they were better than new!
So the next time you see an old item, take a moment and imagine how you can add your own style to it. You might be surprised on how it turns out like I was!
