Now don’t be alarmed but I decided to add a little pink by adding Flower Scroll Art to Saylor’s nursery! I’m not against pink at all, I just wanted to keep her room gender neutra so if we have another, they can share the same room for a while and thus share the same decorations! But I felt it needed a little color, so I dug out this old floral scroll I bought in Singapore. My parents had moved there while I was in college and I decided to join them and spend a couple semesters there…kind of my own study abroad I suppose. And that’s where I bought this scroll. Going on eight years later, this scroll made it back to WA State then across country to Florida. Sooo, yeah since it made it all the way here, I felt a little inclined to actually DO something with the thing! And good news, the flowers are still vibrant and probably more trendy now than they were when I bought it. So I decided to unroll it and cut up the pieces as decor in the nursery.
Wall decor definitely doesn’t have to be an expensive thing. Even certain wrapping papers, gift boxes, fabric with texture or magazine photos can be quite beautiful. Almost anything looks amazing in a crisp white or black frame so try it out! As a young family, art is something I appreciate but don’t have the budget to start collecting. So this scroll idea was a quick fix.
What I did first was unravelled the scroll, then I took out the glass portion of the frame and laid it right on top of my design. That way, I could see through the glass and shift it around to find the exact section I wanted. The frames also had matting but I wanted to use the glass parts as it would allow me to cut as large a section as possible, in case I chose to change frames later. Then I taped the scroll paper in place and hung them up! Pretty self explanatory.
I’m really glad I decided to go through with this project…for one, I got rid of that huge scroll! 🙂 It’s been taking up waaaay too much precious space. And two, it really brightened up the nursery; lots of people keep commenting on the flowers and how pretty they are. So yay! It’s nice to have reassurance from time to time. Mostly I just come up with crazy ideas and hope that they’re aren’t crazy, but I don’t really know until my House Guests chime in. So thanks for ya’lls opinions, it’s definitely more fun when I know I get to share things with you. If you decide to take on a project inspired by this post please share!
