This is by far one of my most favorite projects I’ve done. I have had so much fun creating and decorating this little playhouse for Saylor! This is a Christmas gift to her from my parents and right when I saw it all I thought was gingerbread house! So here it is! And here are a few fun details as well.
I found four like-new placemats at a garage sale. I’m using on as a doormat, the size is really perfect. I also embroidered “welcome” on it. Two of the other placemats are acting as valences inside the window. I flipped them over the curtain pole and placed a button on the lower part to keep everything from slipping. The curtains are holiday tea towels with different wording on them from “Twas the Night Before Christmas”. I instantly fell in love with these. I found these plush ornaments at Michaels and when they went on sale, I snagged up a bunch.
For the floor I used cork pads and cut them to fit perfectly inside. Then I decorated with miniature items such as these chairs, this treat tray, lamp and plush Christmas tree I found at a garage sale for $4! For the walls, I found this waxy wrapping paper…a less expensive way to add color to a small space like this. I’m sure we’ll have this for many years to come! Saylor is going to love playing in here and I can’t wait to watch her enjoy it!
