Let’s take a little walk to my potting bench, shall we? Right in front of it, I have a DIY I’m “diying” to show you…my Hose Rug DIY!
If you’re in to recycling, upcycling and repurposing, this DIY is so great to do. It’s super easy and really fun! It turns your old, leaky hoses into a sturdy rug you can use outdoors on a patio, in your glam garage laundry room or under a covered porch. It’s really durable and can withstand all sorts of weather. You know, come to think of it, one of these would look adorable in a She Shed! Hmmm…got my own wheels spinning now!
So with it nearing the end of summer, bummer I know, you can start to rid rusty tools, broken rakes and any other item in your garage that you need to replace. No need keeping ruined items all through the winter, so consider doing away with them, or upcycling!
The steps are really easy to make the Hose Rug DIY. I even have a video for you to watch when I made this on HSN At Home Show!
What you need are Garden Hoses, Zip ties and Pruning Sheers! Colorful Zip ties looks really cool! I recommend zip ties to be at lease 6 inches long like these on Amazon.
You’ll first cut the metal ends off with your Pruning Sheers!
Then you’ll fold 4 feet of the hose against itself and zip tie every few inches, keeping the tails all on one side.
Then continue folding the hose against itself and when you’re ready to add a different color, just place it close to the the other end and continue.
When it’s the size you like, or you’ve run out of hose, clip the zip tie ends and flip the entire rug over because the zip tie stoppers can be sharp. You can even place the zip ties in a pattern like I have done below!
All done!
If you felt inspired by this DIY, I’m so glad! And if you feel even more inspired to make one, gosh I’d love to see your version! Please tag me @ahostofthings on Instagram and use hashtag #IamAhostofThingstoo
