Oh hello there. It’s a bright and sunny day so I thought I’d make a couple Lemon Tulip Bouquets to match the cheerfulness! These arrangements only a few minutes and they are sure to catch your eye every time you walk into the room!
I try not to add to my vase collection if I can help it. So instead I tend to use cylinders, buckets, cups and anything else that holds water! Since I wanted two to be identical, I decided to pull out my carafes that usually hold my sangria and ice tea.
Tulips are such a beauty to have in your home. They come in so many colors and the heads are so bold. I really love the pop of color they create and their stems are pretty strong too.
Usually you want to refrain from putting flowers near fruit because fruit gives off ethylene gas which causes the flowers to wilt quicker. But I really wanted to create this look anyway, so risk I took!
After slicing the lemons I placed the flowers in the water and maneuvered the lemons around the stems. Once I finished they looked really nice!
Yes, the acid in the water affected my stems. I changed the water everyday and was only able to enjoy the arrangement for about 5 days. But you can place a small vase on the inside of a large vase and put the fruit slices in the gap which will let your flowers last longer.
All in all I enjoyed doing it and that’s what’s all about. As always, let me know if you create a similar look and tag @ahostofthings on Instagram or use #IamAhostofThingsToo because you are!
