So since we’re friends I feel we should share some tidbits about one another! And one thing about me, is I like to repurpose items and give them new life. So if we take a walk outside, you can see this Rain Boot Planter DIY I made which gives character to my garden and a home to pretty plants!
If you’ve never tackled a DIY before, this one is a simple one to get your feet wet with! lol. Feet wet. Rain Boots. Get it? Don’t worry, I have lots of dumb jokes, so stick with me.
I shared this DIY on HSN At Home Show, take a peek at the video or follow the below instructions. You’ll love how cute it looks outdoors or in a window sill!
So gather those ol’ smelly boots or maybe you have new ones that don’t fit anymore and turn them into something cute again!
What you need are very simple things you probably have around your house and yard already…
First things first! Drill some holes in the bottom of the boots. You’ll be amazed at how fun and easy it is to drill through the plastic! But don’t get carried away like I did! Just a handful of holes will do the trick for drainage! Then set it right-side up!
Next, place small rock in the bottom and layer with soil. The small rock not only helps with drainage and the roots, but also stabilizes the boot in windy weather!
Lastly, fill with your favorite flowers or plants. I used marigolds which also help ward off pests! The bright flower sure looks pretty don’t you think? If your boots are bright anymore, just spray them with a little spray paint- that should do the trick!
Don’t they look lovely? Why thank you! If you love gardening and upcycling, make sure to see my other posts like my File Cabinet Planter DIY or my Garden Hose Rug!
