Saylor’s Flamingo Room

Hey, wanna come “flamingle” with me for a little while?!  Saylor’s Flamingo Room is just oh so cute now that we updated it!  I was keeping her room pretty gender neutral in case we have two kids because I thought they’d share the room.  But Saylor went to a few girl birthday parties this spring and she really enjoyed playing in their more girly rooms.  She kinda came out of her shell…it was really sweet to watch.  So Husband and I thought we’d embrace the fact that our little loves to play in the dirt and play dress up and revamped her room to reflect more of what she loves.

And when I was her age my parents redid my room.  The pink hydrangea curtains matched the bedding and I had pink and white wallpaper behind the bed.  So I guess I was inspired by my own childhood bedroom and just want her to love her space as much as I did!

From the ground up…literally, we started with new carpet, fresh paint and flamingo wallpaper!  And yes, I pulled myself together and mustered up enough courage to retire her crib and get her a twin bed!  Ahhh, the tears!  But this new bed is SO precious!  And of course I DIYed it a little.  I painted it a brighter gold and recovered the headboard to a soft white linen.

Let’s see, what else did we do…hm…oh I added hooks in the corner…again repainted those the same gold and now we hang her robe, her dance bag (she started dance this spring) and her backpack!  In the opposite corner is her dress up area!  You might recognize that shelf from before…same spot, just new fresh coat of, say it with me “gold paint” ! lol. With the room being kinda petite I decided to just double this bookshelf to hold books, storybook characters and her dress up items.  Now she knows right where her hats, shoes and accessories are and we hung her costumes from the bottom shelf!

And I guess the last little area is her vanity where she’ll play with toys and even play doh!

Saylor now enjoys spending more time in her room and is happy to go to sleep each night.  Well, okay not every night.  She’s still a toddler.  🙂  So I know how she feels about it…but I’d love to know what you think!  Please let me know! #goodvibesonly and follow me on Instagram so we can be friends!

Cheers!
